For owners of Phat and Slim PSP's alike, a new Firmware has been released by Dark Alex. Importantly, a bug fix in the form of 4.01 M33-2 followed almost instantly, and, FOR PHAT OWNERS ONLY a 1.50 Kernel add-on was also released, to support homebrew based on this firmware. A good example of this is the PSP VLC binaries which rely on 1.50 Kernel Add-ons. In this post I will show you how, and where to get the firmwares, thanks to the amazing Dark Alex, and the Exophase forums and also some good links to easy install guides.

LG X100 Ultraportable Review PDF Print E-mail

Today I would like to present a well researched, thourough, and excellently written review of the LG X100 Ultraportable 10.6" Notebook, by Ikariya from Overclockers Australia forums. With the advent of the Asus Eee PC, the HP Mininote, and MSI Wind, this notebook offers a slightly different spin, although it is as light as the Eee, it's a touch pricier, at $1500AUD, but it has the grunt of a normal notebook with a Dual Core CPU, discreet graphics solution, all the while maintaining an 'ultraportable' form factor.

I finally got my new bike, and although it may be 'The cheapest bike Gary Fisher will put his name on' it is a pretty sweet ride. As it will be my daily ride to work, and not used off road in the traditional Mountain Bike fashion, I had some cool rubber put on it..... It rides like a dream in town, not hard to ride at all like a Mountain Bike, there is almost no rolling resistance on my sweet slicks!

ASUS Eee 1000H in Australia PDF Print E-mail

So the Asus Eee 1000H is now available at retailers in Australia. This is basically the 901 with a 10 inch screen, slightly bigger keyboard, and a traditional 80Gb notebook hard drive. To me this is a departure from the initial ideals of the Eee, reducing battery life with the larger screen and hard drive as opposed to the more energy frugal SSD. I will be going with the 901 for the ultimate ultra portable. If I wanted a 10 incher with the standard HDD, I'd probably have got a Wind.

PCSX2 0.9.5 Beta Released PDF Print E-mail

In this review of PCSX2 0.9.5 Public Beta, I will discuss the configuration and system specs required to get a fully functional PS2 Emulator going on your PC. I will be benchmarking the software with a fairly intensive piece of software for PC Emulation, namely Final Fantasy XII by Square Enix.

PCSX2 is the most functional, and more importantly, supported, PS2 emulator available today. There are multiple plugins to support assorted hardware and forums explaining configuration techniques. Before I get into too much detail about this emulator, be warned, you will need a powerful computer, 3Ghz+ Dual Core CPU, and at least an 8800 GT Graphics card to achieve high quality graphics at acceptable frame rates.
